When I headed to London recently for the Space NK x The Anna Edit x Lily Pebbles collaboration event, I made sure to arrive earlier to make the most of a day out in London. I knew I wanted to tackle an area I’d never checked out before, discover hidden gems and find out if there were any places I’d want to share with you. Just ten minutes’ walk north of Euston Station, I thought I’d hit up the well-loved Camden Town.
For all its quirky little independent stores interlaced with tacky (no offence, but come on) city merchandise shops for tourists, one thing about Camden is consistent: it’s absolutely buzzing. The atmosphere is filled with excitement, locals and visitors alike wondering what kind of vintage store or words of wisdom they’re going to find around the corner.
Who knows? You might even find yourself feeling like you’ve been transported into Oliver Twist.
Here are my favourite finds from the area – if you’re ever nearby, these places are an absolute must!
Food + Drink
Scattered across Camden you’ll find a number of Camden Juice stalls and, if I could afford it, I’d pick up a bottle of their freshly squeezed OJ at every single one. They’ve got a range of smoothies and raw juices as well as some of the loveliest team members you’ll find it London. What more could you want?
An independent cookie dough specialist (and founders of the UK’s first cookie dough cafe), Naked Dough are taking the snack world by storm with their revolutionarily delicious and irresistibly more-ish cookie dough treats. They literally have Lotus biscuit cookie dough. Of course, I went for the double scoop and chocolate sauce. Go hard or go home, right?
Universe of Us
This little beauty is tucked away opposite Camden Market, but it’s one you mustn’t miss. The epitome of curated lifestyle products with pastel colouring and metallic accents, it’s definitely worth popping into. Whether you’re looking for a beautifully illustrated book on modern feminism or you’re keen to add some delicate pieces to your jewellery collection, Universe of Us is a great little place to check out.
Mini High Street Branches
Whilst you’ve heard of these Urban Outfitters and SkinnyDip, I wanted to shoutout their Camden stores for a number of reasons:
- As they’re located adjacent to and/or within Camden Market itself, the independent shops that surround them are where the crowds tend to be drawn to – less queueing and more space (a rarity in London)!
- In fitting in with the contemporary, urban aesthetic of their surroundings, these branches are a little quirkier and a lot more personable than their larger counterparts. They also have some sweet wall art.
Have you been to Camden before? Where are your favourite stores?
