For my birthday this year, my boyfriend surprised me by booking us the Airbnb of dreams in Brighton. With a sea-facing balcony, an interiors colour scheme I can DEFINITELY get behind and a house plant in the living room that I miss a bit too much, the apartment was a gorgeous space to enjoy early morning coffees and cosy nights in watching Narcos on Netflix (such a fascinating and addictive series!).
Living in the industrial cloud that is Birmingham, one of the main reasons I adore Brighton is its beach; I love watching the waves crash on the shore and breathing in the fresh sea air. There’s also an exceptional amount of dogs in the city, which is a solid selling point in my book.
Whether you’re looking for snacks, books, dinner or shoes, The Lanes + The North Lanes is the place to be.
These gorgeous little streets are lined with independent coffee houses, vintage stores and more. Get ready to lose track of time.
WHERE TO EAT
COFFEE / THE PLANT ROOM
This is the Instagrammer’s dream. They do a wonderful variety of salads and plant-based snacks, as well as some of Brighton’s best coffee.
BREAKFAST / FLOURPOT BAKERY
The number one stop for an almond croissant and oat milk latte that you are guaranteed to think about every morning until you’re back there. Such a lovely atmosphere and the perfect place to do some writing.
LUNCH / FATTO A MANO
The best pizza in Brighton, according to many trusted sources. I can confirm: the N’Duja is absolutely divine and always my go-to!
DINNER / CASA DON CARLOS
I absolutely love Spanish culture and cuisine, and stepping into Casa don Carlos is like going on a one-second trip to Spain. Their food is totally authentic (and, consequently, delicious) and so, so fresh. I’d recommend their flambé rum chorizo (it makes a great Instagram story, too).
WHERE TO SHOP
OUR DAILY EDIT
A beautifully and thoughtfully curated selection of pieces you’ll fall in love with. My go-to for investment pieces and a wonderful store to discover new designers.
Duke’s Lane, whilst pricier, has an ever-changing pop-up shop space that is always somewhere I’m keen to check out.
THE NEUTRAL STORE
The pop-up space is currently home to the launch of The Neutral Store, a delicate selection of artworks, homeware and more. I picked up a gorgeous print and would recommend you check out the yuzu hand cream.
A blogger favourite, and with good reason. Workshop is the epitome of effortlessly curated minimalism – you better be ready to feel like transforming your home into a Scandi-inspired haven afterwards.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Papersmiths – I also mentioned their store in my Shoreditch guide – basically a stationery-lover’s dream.
THE FAMILY STORE
Expect great quality clothing, and jokes to match. They also have an insane selection of independent zines and adorable enamel pins.
I want to buy every single piece in this beautiful gallery. Every time I’ve been in the staff have been pretty unpleasant, so I much prefer browsing their online store – you can check it out here!
